Eta Carinae: New View of Doomed Star from Chandra X-Ray Observatory

Eta Carinae lies at a distance of 7 500 light years from us and is over 100 times more massive than the Sun. It should explode as a supernova in the near future, i.e. in a few million years. When it explodes, it will probably be the brightest supernova ever seen from the Earth.
